Iranian Foreign Minister: US Must Explain Attack Reasons before Ceasefire
JAKARTA - Iran has asked the United States (US) to explain the reasons for the aggression, before Tehran considers a ceasefire agreement.
"They have to explain why they started this aggression, before we get to the point of considering a ceasefire," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC News as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Monday, March 9.
According to him, Iran has used its right to defend itself.
"Of course no one wants to continue this war. We are forced by the United States, Israel. They, you know, have started this war without provocation, without reason, and illegally; and what we are doing now is a legitimate act of self-defense and we have the full right to do that," he explained.
Araghchimembantah Iran dengan sengaja menyerang negara-negara tetangganya di Timur Tengah. Menurut dia, Iran melakukan serangan balasan terhadap pangkalan dan aset milik militer AS yang berada di kawasan tersebut.
"It is wrong to think that Iran is attacking its neighboring countries. No, we are not attacking our neighboring countries. We are attacking American bases, American installations, American assets, which unfortunately are located in the territory of our neighboring countries. So, we are not attacking our neighboring countries. We are attacking Americans who attack us," said Foreign Minister Araghchi.
