Yaqut attends the conclusion of the pretrial application at the PN Jaksel

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas also attended the pretrial hearing that he filed. Yaqut's pretrial hearing today is scheduled to read the conclusion.

Yaqut's pretrial hearing was held at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) on Monday, March 9. Yaqut was seen wearing a white shirt, black pants and a black turban.

He was sitting with his lawyer on the right side of the front of the judge's table. It is seen that there are 4 lawyers accompanying Yaqut.

As is known, Yaqut filed a pretrial application for the determination of suspects carried out by the KPK. He was named a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the 2023-2024 Hajj quota.

In his application, Yaqut assessed that the KPK violated the new KUHAP when it appointed him as a suspect. Yaqut only received a notification letter of the appointment of the suspect dated January 9, 2026.

In fact, in the provisions of Article 90 paragraph (2) and (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, it is only stipulated that the determination of a suspect must be stated in a letter of determination of a suspect signed by the investigator and notified to the suspect no later than one day after the letter is issued.

"That based on the description as stated above, the procedure for determining the suspect according to the provisions of Article 90 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Procedure Code is not met by the Respondent, and therefore the determination of the suspect against the Applicant by the Respondent must be declared invalid and not legally binding," said Yaqut's lawyer, Melissa Anggraeni, in a trial at the South Jakarta District Court, Wednesday, March 4.

Apart from the issue of violating the new KUHAP, Yaqut also questioned the calculation of state losses. The Yaqut party admitted that he did not know about the report until he filed a pretrial application.

"The state's losses are proven through the Investigative Audit Statement on state financial losses based on the Supreme Court Circular (SEMA) Number 2 of 2024, emphasizing the authority to determine state losses constitutionally is only the Indonesian Republic's Financial Supervisory Agency," said Mellisa.
