Russian citizen, captain of a tanker, seriously ill in Cilegon waters, evacuated by SAR team

JAKARTA - The captain of the Russian tanker Elisabeth citizen (WN), Shushkin (41), who was seriously ill, was evacuated by the Joint SAR team from the waters of Tempurung Island, Cilegon City, Banten Province.

Kasubsi Siaga and Operations of the Banten Basarnas, Rizky Dwianto, explained that the evacuation process began after his party received an emergency report from the ship's crew at 15.18 WIB.

"The victim is reported to need immediate medical treatment. We immediately deployed the KN SAR Tetuka to the meeting point at coordinates 05°52.800'S 105°56.700'E," he said in Cilegon, Saturday, quoted by Antara.

The rescue ship arrived at the location, which is about 14.65 nautical miles away, at 21.18 WIB. The evacuation process was carried out by bringing the KN SAR Tetuka to the hull of the tanker Elisabeth to move the victim.

He explained that at 21.36 WIB, the captain of the ship was successfully evacuated and immediately taken to the Bakau Jaya Port to be taken to Bethsaida Hospital, Cilegon City for intensive care.

This rescue operation involves the synergy of various elements, ranging from the Banten SAR Office personnel, Polairud National Police Headquarters and Banten Police, Health Quarantine Office, Cilegon Immigration Office, to the Sea and Beach Guard Unit (KPLP).

Even though the weather conditions at the location were cloudy, Rizky ensured that all stages of the evacuation went smoothly, without any significant obstacles.

Currently, the Russian citizen's health condition is still under the supervision of the medical team at the hospital.
