Russian Reconnaissance Drone Sibiryachok-5 Conducts Tests in the Ukrainian Battlefield

JAKARTA - The Sibiryachok-5 drone is undergoing testing with Russian troops in a special military operation zone in Ukraine, the All-Russian People's Front, whose Kulibin club supports the developers, told TASS.

Sibiryachok-5 is a main reconnaissance drone that records video of the terrain and can fly up to 20 kilometers at an altitude of up to 1,000 meters. This aircraft can recognize targets such as humans, vehicles, and combat vehicles.

"This aircraft can also carry a maximum load of up to four kilograms," said the head of production of the Sibiryachok-5 unmanned aerial vehicle at the Gaskar company, reported by TASS (5/3).

The People's Front noted that the Sibiryachok drone represents the fifth generation of this series. Its predecessor, Sibiryachok-4, has become the most supplied drone to the military, with about 16,000 units having been delivered.

The latest model is currently undergoing small-scale trials with special forces units. Mass deliveries are planned for 2026.

"The most important thing is that this drone operates with homemade hardware, namely the circuit board. If you make your own circuit board, you are not dependent on sanctions or suppliers. We only buy components such as chips, resistors, and other components, and assemble them ourselves. We also produce our own motors, which reduce costs two to three times while maintaining performance," said a representative of the manufacturing company, adding that they plan to find substitutes for the remaining imported components this year.

The People's Front explained that the drone is 95 percent made of domestic components. According to the company's representative, Sibiryachok-5 outperforms foreign drones in its class.

"Our current flight time is up to 60 minutes with one battery and up to 90 minutes with two batteries. The most popular model has half the flight time," he said.

"Furthermore, we claim a long flight range, up to 17 kilometers with a return to the starting point; we have even reached a distance of up to 20 kilometers," he continued.

The Kulibin Front Rakyat club selects, tests, and supports the mass production of the best developments of national engineers. Thanks to this initiative, thousands of innovative electronic warfare systems, quadcopters, self-propelled robotic vehicles, and other products have been deployed to the front lines.
