Vidi Aldiano's Profile: All-Round Singer Who Continues to Struggle
JAKARTA - Singer Vidi Aldiano died on Saturday, March 7, 2026. This news was shared by several parties including the singer's family to the media.
"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. Telah berpulang ke rahmatullah, sahabat kita tercinta, VIDI ALDIANO, pada hari ini Sabtu, 7 Maret 2026," begitu pesan yang beredar.
"We ask for prayers that the deceased is forgiven for all his sins, his good deeds are accepted, and he gets the best place by the side of Allah SWT. The family left behind may be given fortitude," he continued.
Vidi Aldiano died after fighting against the kidney cancer he had since 2019. In the midst of the treatment process, he was also active in releasing songs and albums as well as appearing in various events.
Vidi Aldiano was born with the name Oxavia Aldiano on March 29, 1990. The name Vidi is taken from two tribes in two words, while Aldiano is an abbreviation of "Finally He Nongol" made by his parents.
Born with a talent for singing, Vidi grew up with music since childhood because both of his parents were also close to the music world. His professional career began when he auditioned for the third season of Indonesian Idol in 2006, but he only finished up to the top 100.
In high school, Vidi made an album containing his singing to be played in the school canteen. He also dared to send demos to record labels until producer Lala Hamid wanted to produce the album Pelangi di Malam Hari with the main song Nuansa Bening by Keenan Nasution.
After "Nuansa Bening", the second single titled "Status Palsu" also received a positive response from music listeners. Vidi Aldiano immediately became a male solo singer who revived the music industry considering that at that time male soloists were not too popular.
During his life, Vidi Aldiano released four albums, namely Pelangi di Malam Hari, the Second, Persona, and Senandika. The last album was made in the midst of a long delay process after Vidi was sick.
Besides music, Vidi has been a judge in a number of competition shows, ranging from Indonesian Idol Junior, The Next Boy/Girl Band, and X-Factor Indonesia.
In terms of acting, Vidi also acted in the NET TV production Stereo series. In this series, Vidi plays Alex, one of the students who joins the Super Choir, a choir group representing the campus to compete.
From the series, Vidi met actress Sheila Dara. The two married on January 15, 2022 after dating and breaking up.
After revealing the disease and being active, Vidi decided to vacuum from the entertainment world in November 2025. He wrote that he had never rested completely since 2014.
"I decided to take a break for the next few months (I haven't got any since 2014), to focus on self-recovery, and ALSO I am preparing a new album for next year. YEAY!" wrote Vidi Aldiano on November 1, 2025.
At that time, Vidi revealed that he was still working on his new album and still shared some news with the public.
Vidi last released a personal single titled "Senyumin Dulu Aja" and collaborated with Isyana Sarasvati in the song "Frenemy" which became part of the Lunora album series in 2025.
Vidi Aldiano died at the age of 35.
