Rizieq Shihab Believes Judge's Conscience Is Open After Hearing Pledoi: Because Wise And Fair

JAKARTA - Habib Rizieq Shihab will deliver a memorandum of defense or plea for the prosecutor's demands in the swab test case at the Bogor UMMI Hospital. He assessed that the article alleged in this case had a political element.

This was conveyed by Rizieq Shihab through his attorney Aziz Yanuar in response to the public prosecutor's demands at the Attorney General's Office.

"What strengthens it is that the application of these articles cannot be separated from the political element," Aziz told reporters, Thursday, June 3.

Aziz considers that the application of the article on fake news in a case that leads to political interests has become an open secret. Some examples are the cases of Ratna Serumpaet and Syahganda Nainggolan.

"With this application, it's not just me, everyone is like that. I only focus on the law. But I explained the article for which the application of lies is related to politics," he said.

That way, Aziz believes that the plea that will be delivered at the next trial will open the eyes of the judges. So, it will give a fair decision.

In fact, the panel of judges is also believed to be giving a lighter verdict than the prosecutor's demands.

"Sure. God willing, we are 1000 percent sure. We believe that the Panel of Judges is fair and wise judges who have a conscience and hold fast to fair law enforcement," said Aziz.

For information, Rizieq Shihab was sentenced to 6 years in prison in the case of a swab test result at the UMMI Hospital. Meanwhile, Hanif Alatas was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

Both of them are considered to have legally and convincingly committed a violation of spreading false news about Rizieq Shihab's health condition.
