Job Opportunities in Jakarta Are Still Open Even Though the Global Economy Is Uncertain
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) ensures that employment opportunities in Jakarta are still open to the public, including immigrants, even though the global economic conditions are uncertain.
"So the space to work in Jakarta is still open for anyone. But, indeed, in this kind of world condition, when there is a war everywhere, it needs to be realistic," said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung after opening the Bedug Festival at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, Saturday, March 7 as reported by ANTARA.
In this context, Pramono emphasized that job opportunities in Jakarta are still open to the public, including for immigrants who come to the capital after the Eid al-Fitr celebration.
According to him, Jakarta has always been an open city for anyone who wants to find a livelihood. Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will not restrict the arrival of immigrants through judicial operations or special screening.
"Jakarta will remain open to anyone. So, I will not order a judicial operation or screening for that," said Pramono.
In addition, opportunities to work in Jakarta are still available. However, he asked the public to remain realistic in seeing the current economic conditions which are influenced by various global dynamics.
Pramono assessed that the current world situation, which is dominated by geopolitical conflicts, also has an impact on economic conditions, including the potential for shrinking employment opportunities in various countries.
He cited conflicts in several regions such as the Russian-Ukrainian war and tensions in the Middle East involving Israel, the United States, and Iran.
According to him, the global situation makes all parties need to be careful in looking at economic and employment opportunities.
"In this kind of world, when there is war everywhere, I think we have to be very careful," he said.
However, Pramono ensured that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would continue to strive to maintain regional economic stability, including ensuring that people's basic needs were met during Ramadan and leading up to Eid al-Fitr.
Stock of main food ingredients in Jakarta is currently in a safe condition and even more than enough.
"Therefore, in order to welcome the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, Jakarta has prepared in advance, especially those related to the main needs in the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, such as rice, meat, red chili, curly chili, and so on," explained Pramono.
With this availability, he hopes that there will be no significant price spike during the upcoming Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period.
In addition to maintaining food availability, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also continuing to strive to create a conducive economic climate so that employment opportunities remain open for people who want to make a living in the capital.
