Pramono wants the Bedug tradition to continue during Ramadan.
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo wants the Bedug Festival tradition to continue in the capital, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
"Hopefully, traditions for the Bedug Festival like this in Jakarta will be well maintained," said Pramono after opening the Bedug Festival at the Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, Saturday.
Pramono explained that previously the total number of participants who attended the festival was 93 groups from various regions of Jakarta. However, after going through the selection stage at the city and district administrative levels, now there are 16 best groups that have advanced to the provincial level.
The DKI Provincial Government has also prepared coaching prizes for the winners. The first champion will receive Rp. 25 million, the second champion Rp. 20 million, and the third champion Rp. 15 million. In addition, there is also an award of hope with a coaching value of up to Rp. 12.5 million.
In addition to competing in the event, the 16 finalists will also appear during the celebration of the takbiran night at the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI), Central Jakarta.
In his remarks, Pramono revealed that this event was held in order to maintain cultural traditions while enlivening the month of Ramadan in the capital.
"I am sure that later if there is a Bedug Festival, there will be a torch parade, there are various communities that are present, I am sure that it will be in the context of welcoming Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta much more lively, more festive, and will definitely make everyone feel that they have Jakarta," he said.
Pramono also hopes that the finalists will not only be enthusiastic during rehearsals and performances, but he wants the tradition to continue in Jakarta.
Because, he said, he also likes to play bedug in the mosque. This is what he wants to revive in the capital's mosques.
"I invite all elements of society to continue to maintain our cultural traditions, and this is what will later bring about the existing relationships in Jakarta," said Pramono.
