PRR Task Force Adds Huntara Facilities to Ensure Residents' Comfort

JAKARTA - The Head of the Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Task Force, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasized that his party would follow up on various complaints from residents regarding the comfort of temporary housing in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

One of the concerns is the temperature condition inside the temporary residence or huntara which is still felt hot by some residents, so the PRR Task Force will provide fans to help air circulation inside the huntara.

"They will also be helped by fans," Tito said in his statement, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 7.

Tito said his party would coordinate with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to improve the standards for the construction of huntara, especially with the possibility of adding a roof base so that the residence does not absorb heat too much.

"Yes, we will convey to BNPB, whether it can be made a base so that in the future the standard has a base so that it is not too hot," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

According to Tito, the government continues to evaluate various temporary housing models built by a number of parties.

He explained that there were various schemes for the development of huntara, ranging from those built by BNPB, Danantara, the Ministry of Public Works, to community-based housing and volunteer organizations.

"At BNPB there are no beds, but the advantage is that the kitchen and toilet are their own. Meanwhile, those built by Danantara and the Ministry of PU have beds and fans, but communal kitchens and bathrooms," said Tito.

In addition, Tito added, the government targets refugees who are still living in tents to immediately move to temporary housing or receive housing waiting funds (DTH) before Eid al-Fitr 2026.

Currently, the number of refugees in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra continues to decline and is in the range of 6,000 people.

"From last week 11,000-an, now it's 6,000-an. Our target before Eid al-Fitr they have entered the huntara or used the waiting fund for housing," he said.
