MRT Phase 2A Rail Work at Kota Station, South Gate Traffic Engineered 6-9 March Night

JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) will implement traffic engineering around South Gate Street, West Jakarta, on March 6-9, 2026. Vehicle flow arrangements are carried out to support the construction of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A project in the Kota Station area.

Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta Rendy Primartantyo explained that the work was part of the CP205 construction package which includes the construction of the railway system on the Bundaran HI to Kota Station.

"The CP205 work package is part of the construction of the Jakarta MRT Phase 2A Project, which includes the construction of the MRT Bundaran HI Station to Kota MRT Station," said Rendy in his statement, Friday, March 6.

As the work progresses on the package, MRT Jakarta together with Sojitz Corporation as the contractor will carry out supporting work around Kota Station. This activity is carried out to prepare the rail welding process or rail welding which will be carried out in the next phase.

The work carried out includes lowering forklifts, table generators and welding equipment, as well as Flash Butt Welding (FBW) machines and generators. All activities will be carried out in the northern area of Kota Station, specifically around the location near Bank Jakarta.

The work to lower the equipment is scheduled to take place on March 6-9, 2026 every night from 22.00 to 04.00 WIB on Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan.

To support these activities, MRT Jakarta will close two lanes around the Bank Jakarta area from the north to south intersection to the front of the Blue International Building during the work from 22.00-03.59 WIB.

Meanwhile, from 04.00-22.00 WIB, traffic flow on Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan is still in force as the current arrangement. The road can still be passed by TransJakarta buses, residents' vehicles, and motorbikes from the south and north.

During the night traffic engineering, small vehicles and TransJakarta buses will be directed to pass through the southern gate on the west side of Asemka. Given the limited road capacity, a traffic open-close system will be implemented so that vehicles can pass alternately from two directions.

As an alternative, small vehicle drivers are advised to use Jalan Pinangsia and Jalan Pancoran to avoid congestion around the project site.

Rendy said MRT Jakarta together with the contractor also prepared a number of security measures in the work area, such as installing traffic signs, road markings, to street lights.

"These steps are taken to support the smooth running of construction work while maintaining the comfort of road users around the work area," said Rendy.

PT MRT Jakarta also apologized for the potential traffic disruption during the work and urged the public to comply with signs and instructions from officers in the field.
