Seskab: Prabowo and Ulama Meeting Becomes a Forum for Dialog on Geopolitical Issues

JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya conveyed the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and 160 Islamic scholars and community organization (ormas) figures as a forum for dialogue to explain various strategic issues, including global geopolitical dynamics.

According to him, the meeting which lasted for more than three hours at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (5/3), took place intensively and was full of openness of views.

"On that occasion, President Prabowo also explained directly the reasons and the long process behind Indonesia's involvement in the Palestinian peace forum known as the Board of Peace (BoP)," said Teddy through an Instagram post @sekretariat.kabinet, Jakarta, Friday, March 6. reported by ANTARA.

Teddy conveyed that the President also discussed Indonesia's diplomatic efforts in promoting peace in the Middle East, including the conflict between the United States-Israel and Iran.

The President, said Teddy, emphasized that the decision was a concrete step taken by Indonesia to help reduce conflicts and humanitarian victims in Palestine.

Teddy explained that before taking this step, the President had conducted intensive communication with a number of Muslim majority country leaders and countries in the Middle East region.

The countries invited to discuss include Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

"President Prabowo emphasized that this decision was a concrete step taken as an effort to reduce the number of conflicts and victims in Palestine," he said.

Through the meeting, the government also heard the views and input of the ulama regarding Indonesia's diplomatic steps as well as various developments in the global situation that have an impact on the Islamic world.
