Apple Music Will Use Transparency Tags to Identify AI-Based Music
Apple Music will change the way they mark content created or assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI). This step is taken to increase transparency to song listeners.
Based on a report from Music Business Worldwide, Apple has sent technical guidelines to various record label partners and distributors. They will launch new metadata to provide specific information on which parts of the song involve AI.
Distributors now have the option to mark specific elements in detail, from album covers to lyrics. This system allows for a clear distinction between human-made music and tracks generated through algorithms.
In addition to audio, this tagging also includes visual aspects such as music videos uploaded to the platform. These metadata help the system maintain file organization while providing additional context for users.
However, this labeling system is voluntary and highly dependent on the honesty of the label or distributor. They must manually choose to include an AI usage tag before the song is published.
Apple's move is similar to the policy that Spotify has taken in dealing with AI music trends. This is different from Deezer's approach, which tries to use internal detection tools to automatically filter content.
This update is expected to create a more orderly digital music ecosystem amid the rapid development of AI technology. Apple is reportedly continuing to refine this system to protect the integrity of art on its music platform.
