France will send armored personnel carriers to Lebanon

JAKARTA - France will strengthen cooperation with the Lebanese armed forces and supply them with armored personnel carriers, French President Emmanuel Macron said.

"France will strengthen cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces and will provide armored transport vehicles, as well as operational and logistical support," Macron said on X, as reported by Sputnik, Friday, March 66.

The French president said he had spoken to Lebanese leaders to develop a plan aimed at ending the military confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah.

Macron also reiterated his call on Israel to stop its ground operations in Lebanon.

"Because I am concerned about the displacement of tens of thousands of Lebanese civilians who are currently displaced to the south, I have decided to immediately send humanitarian aid to them," Macron said.

"Several tons of medicine are being transported, along with shelter assistance and other assistance," he added.

Hezbollah on Monday resumed active military operations against Israel amid the escalating conflict in the region and intensive Israeli and US attacks on Iran.

In response, the Israeli army intensified its attacks on Lebanon, attacking the southern outskirts of Beirut, as well as the country's eastern and southern regions.
