Trump Wants Iran Leaders to Meet His Criteria, Cawe-cawe Other State Sovereignty
JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump has stated that he will overhaul the current Iranian leadership regime.
Trump emphasized the interference of other countries' sovereignty by claiming to have his own criteria for the candidate for the Iranian leader.
"We want to go in and clean it all up," Trump told NBC News on Thursday, March 5 local time.
He stressed that his party did not want a "candidate leader" who would rebuild Iran within 10 years.
Trump claimed to have several people who could lead Iran, but he refused to mention their names. He added that he was taking steps to ensure those on the "name list" would survive the war.
"We are watching them, yes," he added.
Trump's statement drew a lot of comments in his interview with NBC News on Saturday.
When asked who might lead Iran in the future, Trump admitted he was not sure. However, Trump joked that Iranian officials might one day call him to ask about his options, he said with "a little sarcasm".
Trump also responded to a statement by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who told NBC Nightly News that Iran was ready to face a possible ground invasion by US and Israeli forces.
Trump called Aragchi's comments "useless" as he insisted he would not consider a ground invasion. He also promised that the pace and intensity of the attacks would continue.
"It's a waste of time. They (Iran) have lost everything. They have lost their navy. They have lost everything they can lose," he said.
