Improve Passenger Services, Minister of Transportation Encourages Aviation Industry to Transform
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi encourages the national aviation industry to carry out transformation to improve the quality of services to passengers in the midst of various challenges faced by the aviation sector today.
Dudy said that the transformation of the aviation sector needs to be carried out through a strategic approach involving regulators, operators, and all aviation stakeholders.
"We all understand that the aviation sector is currently facing various challenges that have received widespread attention from the public. In the era of information openness like now, every disruption of flight services can quickly become a public concern and affect public confidence in the aviation industry," said Dudy in an official statement, Friday, March 6.
Dudy said a number of issues that often become the focus of public attention include flight delays, airport facilities that are not yet fully optimal, to passenger travel experiences that are not yet fully satisfactory.
On the other hand, the aviation industry also faces external dynamics that are not light, such as fluctuations in the price of jet fuel, the need for investment in technology and infrastructure, and the demand for increasing aviation safety standards.
According to Dudy, to strengthen the competitiveness of the national aviation industry in the midst of global dynamics, acceleration of transformation is very necessary. This transformation is aimed at improving flight safety, operational efficiency, and service quality to the community.
Dudy also encouraged aviation industry players to take a number of strategic steps, one of which was through strengthening the digitization of aviation services or Smart Aviation.
In addition, the government is also encouraging the development of the Airportpreneurship concept so that airports not only function as a transportation node, but also become a center of economic growth.
"Modernization of the flight navigation system and improvement of infrastructure quality also need to be carried out in the transformation. This step is expected to increase service capacity while strengthening flight safety and timeliness," he said.
According to Dudy, in encouraging the transformation of the aviation sector, the government emphasizes four important factors that must be the concern of all stakeholders, namely safety and security, synergy and collaboration, attention to operational details, and readiness to face various uncertainties.
"Flight safety must always be the top priority in every policy and operational decision. At the same time, collaboration between stakeholders also needs to continue to be strengthened so that the transformation of this sector can run optimally," said Dudy.
He emphasized that the transformation of the aviation sector cannot be done in a partial manner and requires close cooperation between regulators, operators, and all stakeholders in the aviation industry.
"We must always be ready to face uncertainties that can arise at any time in the aviation industry. Therefore, strong coordination, consistent supervision, and operational readiness are the keys to maintaining the reliability of national aviation services," said Dudy.
