Beware, Heavy Rain is Predicted to Flood Jakarta until March 12

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reminds the public to be aware of the potential for extreme weather in the capital city area over the next week.

The Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD, Isnawa Adji, said that based on weather forecasts, the DKI Jakarta area, including the Thousand Islands, has the potential to be hit by heavy rain in the period from March 6 to 12, 2026.

"The potential rainfall for the next 7 days, the period from March 6-12, 2026, will be heavy to very heavy rain in the DKI Jakarta and Thousand Islands regions," Isnawa said in a statement, Friday, March 6.

According to him, this condition has the potential to trigger various hydrometeorological disasters such as flooding and flooding at a number of points. Therefore, community preparedness is considered an important factor to minimize the possible impacts.

"Preparedness is the key to dealing with the potential of hydrometeorological disasters and extreme weather," he said.

BPBD also appealed to residents to prepare simple equipment when going out of the house, such as umbrellas or raincoats. In addition, the public is advised to prepare a disaster standby bag as a precautionary measure.

To monitor the development of flood conditions in real time, the public can access the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's flood monitoring page which displays an RT-based map.
