All England 2026: 6 Indonesian representatives to the Quarterfinals
JAKARTA - Indonesia managed to place six representatives in the quarter-finals of the 2026 BWF Super 1000 All England tournament out of eight representatives who fought in the second round.
The second round match of the world's oldest badminton event at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England, was completed on Thursday, March 5, 2026, WIB night. The six Indonesian representatives are still safe representing the five numbers that are contested.
In the men's singles, the only ticket was obtained by youth shuttler Alwi Farhan from two representatives who fought in the second round. Another representative who failed to reach the quarterfinals was fourth seed Jonatan Christie.
Alwi got a ticket by defeating the seventh seed Chou Tien Chen from China Taipei. He then faced a tough test against second seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn (Thailand) who sent Toma Junior Popov (France) home.
Putri Kusuma Wardani as the only hope in the women's singles since the start of the tournament is still in the tournament. The sixth seed eliminated Kim Ga-eun of South Korea to meet An Se-young, the world number one and the first seed in the tournament.
Bentrok dengan An Se-young tentunya menjadi ujian berat buat Putri. Dalam sejarah delapan pertemuan kompetitif sebelumnya dengan tunggal putri Korea Selatan tersebut, ia belum pernah menang dan baru hanya mencuri dua gim.
Furthermore, the men's doubles managed to place two representatives in the quarter-finals which was the most of the other four numbers. The two pairs are Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin and Rahmat Hidayat/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.
Then the only representative of the women's doubles who survived was the pair of Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Tria Puspitasari. This pair will also face a tough test because they will meet the second seed from Malaysia, namely the pair of Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan.
In mixed doubles, Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah managed to reach the quarterfinals. The pair sent home their compatriots, Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, to meet the sixth seed from China, Guo Xin Wa/Chen Fang Hui.
The quarterfinal matches will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026. The series of matches starts at 09.30 British time or 17.30 WIB.
