The journey of the Blambangan Express Train was disrupted due to a truck being tempered.
JAKARTA - The journey of the Blambangan Express train between Surabaya Pasar Turi Station - Ketapang Banyuwangi was disrupted because the train locomotive was tempered by a truck at the JPL 13 crossing, which is a guarded official crossing at KM 109+860 in the Probolinggo Regency area, East Java.
"At 00.49 WIB, we received a report from the conductor of the Blambangan Express KA 147 that the train heading to Ketapang Station had an Extraordinary Stop (BLB) at KM 109+2 Probolinggo - Leces road section," said KAI Law and Public Relations Manager Daop 9 Cahyo Widiantoro as reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 6.
According to him, the operational disruption was due to a train locomotive being hit by a truck at the JPL 13 crossing, which is a guarded official crossing at KM 109+860, Probolinggo Regency.
"As a result of this incident, the CC 201 83 53 locomotive that was pulling the Blambangan Express train was damaged so that the train journey could not be continued immediately," he said.
Following up on the incident, he continued, the KAI Daop 9 Jember operational team immediately coordinated the handling with the parties concerned at the scene.
"To maintain safety and operational smoothness, the Blambangan Express train was then pulled back to Probolinggo Station using a helper locomotive," he said.
Cahyo said all passengers on the Blambangan Express train were safe and to ensure that passenger travel could continue, KAI transferred passengers to the Wijaya Kusuma train that passed to continue the journey to the final destination at Ketapang Station.
"Passenger safety is KAI's top priority. All passengers on the Blambangan Express train are in a safe condition and their journey continues using the Wijaya Kusuma train to Ketapang," he said.
As a result of this incident, several other train trips in the Daop 9 Jember area were also delayed. KAI continues to make efforts to accelerate handling so that train travel can return to normal.
As a form of service responsibility, KAI has also provided service recovery for train customers who have experienced delays of more than 60 minutes due to the impact of the incident.
"The chronology of the cause of the incident involving the truck at the intersection of the plot is currently still under investigation by the police," he said.
KAI Daop 9 Jember again appeals to the public to comply with the regulations as stipulated in Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation Article 114, which states that every road user must give priority to train travel and give primary rights to vehicles that first cross the track.
