Send a Letter to President Prabowo, FPI asks Indonesia to withdraw from BoP

JAKARTA - The Islamic Brotherhood Front (FPI) sent a letter to President Prabowo Subianto containing a request for Indonesia to withdraw from the Board of Peace. Secretary of the DPP FPI Syura Council Habib Hanif Alatas stated that this attitude was not because they doubted the President, but because of their distrust of America and Israel.

Hanif conveyed this after attending the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Thursday evening, March 5, 2026. He said he came on behalf of Habib Rizieq Shihab who was invited by the President but was unable to attend. "I was sent to represent him," said Hanif. He was accompanied by the General Secretary of the DPP of the Islamic Brotherhood Front.

According to Hanif, the evening meeting contained discussions and socializing. The president, he said, spoke at length and expressed his desire to be at BoP to "do more for Palestine". However, Hanif admitted that he did not get the opportunity to speak, so FPI chose to entrust a letter through one of the ministers.

"We still ask that the Republic of Indonesia withdraw from the BoP," said Hanif. He emphasized the reason: "We believe in the good faith of the President. But we don't trust America. We don't trust Israel."

Hanif also brought a message related to Iran. He asked the President to convey his condolences publicly, not just through the Foreign Minister, because Iran is called a friendly country. He said Iran "needs to be supported" to defend its sovereignty because it is under attack.

In addition, Hanif touched on the issue of sending troops to Gaza. He stated that FPI supports if the delivery is made to help Palestinian independence and is even ready to support volunteers. However, he rejected the scenario of Indonesian troops being sent "under American command" and then facing Hamas. "That's what we don't want," he said.

Hanif claimed that the President conveyed the condition that if Indonesia remained in the BoP, that is, if there was no benefit for the Palestinians and it was not in accordance with Indonesia's national interests, the President would withdraw. "But we still don't need to wait for that, from now on," said Hanif.

When asked further about what the President said about Iran, Hanif suggested referring to the official press conference. "I think at the official press conference," he said.
