Ministry of Trade Exports 75 Tons of Seagrass to China Through the Warehouse Resi Scheme
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade has released 75 tons of Eucheuma cottonii seaweed exports to China through the Warehouse Resi System (SRG) scheme as an effort to strengthen Indonesia's commodity market access to the global market.
The export release worth US$ 100,700 was carried out from the SRG Warehouse of PT Wahana Pronatural Tbk. (WAPO), which is active in implementing SRG for seaweed commodities.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the government continues to optimize the role of SRG as a strategic instrument to support the export of national commodities while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the international market.
"The Ministry of Trade provides support that can be used by SRG managers, cooperatives, and farmers to strengthen product competitiveness at the producer level through the BISA Export Village (DBE) program," he said in an official statement, Thursday, March 5.
Through DBE, continued Budi, flagship products such as seaweed produced by farmers or fishermen in various villages can be stored in SRG warehouses and sold when the market price is profitable.
The DBE program aims to strengthen the export ecosystem in villages through six strategic pillars, namely strengthening export human resources, product development, productivity and technology, logistics, financing, and market promotion and access.
In the midst of global trade challenges and commodity price fluctuations, the government also continues to take proactive steps to maintain national trade stability while increasing exports to various countries.
According to Budi, the utilization of SRG not only serves as a delay selling instrument, but also opens access to a wider market, provides information related to availability, distribution, quality, and commodity value, as well as increasing trust and security in trading transactions.
Meanwhile, Head of the Commodity Futures and Derivatives Supervisory Agency (Bappebti) Tirta Karma Senjaya said that the value of Indonesian seaweed exports to the world in 2025 reached 317.55 million US dollars with the main destination countries including China, the United States, Spain, Japan, and the Netherlands.
"SRG has a strategic role in supporting the export of flagship commodities in various regions of Indonesia. In addition, SRG managers have the opportunity to increase competence and export export products for the products they manage," said Tirta.
President Director of PT Asia Sejahtera Mina Tbk., Indra Widiadarma, appreciates the support of the Ministry of Trade to business actors who manage SRG warehouses.
"This support opens up opportunities for business actors and MSMEs to penetrate export markets through promotions and exhibitions abroad. Hopefully, SRG can continue to support exporters through more competitive banking financing schemes. With this support, Indonesian products are increasingly competitive in the international arena and national exports continue to increase," said Indra.
