Expand AI Literacy, ASEAN Foundation Holds AI Ready ASEAN Workshop in Bandung

JAKARTA - The ASEAN Foundation, with the support of Google.org, through the AI program AI Ready ASEAN, held an AI Ready ASEAN Workshop entitled "Empowering Students for the Future: AI Literacy for a Digital ASEAN" in Bandung.

Held at sMP Plus Muthahhari, this activity aims to expand artificial intelligence (AI) literacy and equip students with basic understanding and its application in daily life, as well as contributing to the ASEAN digital ecosystem.

Since its launch, the program has reached more than 6 million beneficiaries in the ASEAN region, with more than 100,000 participants completing in-depth AI training and more than 3,500 Master Trainers empowered to expand the impact of learning sustainably.

"We believe that every student, wherever they are, has the right to equal opportunities to understand and utilize artificial intelligence," said ASEAN Foundation Executive Director, Piti Srisangnam.

This workshop activity presents a session on the introduction of basic AI concepts, discussions on the responsible use of AI, and direct interaction that helps the material to be easier to understand and relevant to the daily lives of students.

Through collaboration between regional institutions, governments, the private sector, and the education community, this initiative is a tangible step in preparing Indonesia's young generation for an increasingly digitized future.

With an inclusive and sustainable foundation of AI literacy, students are expected not only to be ready to adapt to changes, but also to be able to drive innovation and be active contributors in building a competitive and responsible digital ecosystem.

"Through AI Ready ASEAN, we want to instill confidence that they are not only able to keep up with the times, but also help shape a more inclusive and responsible digital future," concluded Piti.
