Demi Lovato And Travis Barker Provide An Emo Version Of The Song I Love Me

JAKARTA - After announcing his planned collaboration with Travis Barker (Blink-182 drummer), Demi Lovato released a remix version of the song I Love Me on Thursday, May 7. The original version of the pop star's new single was released last March.

The mixing of two different genres produces a fresh song. The very pop I Love Me turned into punk rock when accompanied by Barker's signature drum beat. Not to mention the extremely squeaky guitar riffs that can go along with Demi Lovato's crisp vocals.

Equipped with a lyrical video, I Love Me (emo version) looks very emo with the concept of a MySpace profile page. Lovato and Barker's profiles take turns filled with lyrics about that confidence. The skull image and black and pink color dominated the three-minute video which immediately made fans feel a nostalgic sensation.

I Love Me is Lovato's newest single song which means love for oneself. Often times we compare ourselves with other people which in fact only lead to destruction. Rather than seeking validation from others, this song reveals that appreciating yourself is more than enough.

"I wonder when I love me is enough" (I imagine if I love myself enough, "becomes a chorus as well as an easy hook to remember.

"Shouts (respect) to @travisbarker to 'jump' on my song," said the film player Camp Rock via his Instagram.

This is not the first time the two have dueted. Barker was a guest drummer on Lovato's song Really Don't Care at a concert of the pop star emerging from drug addiction. The singer who was born on August 20 has often voiced her love for rock music, for example by attending Emo Nite events and singing rock genre songs.

A self-loving anthem doesn't always have to sound pop because this piece by Travis Barker is surprising but still delicious. Currently, you can listen to the song I Love Me (emo version) through digital music streaming services.
