JAD Terrorist Group In Merauke Immigrants, Exposed After Settling
JAKARTA - The National Police confirmed that the members of the terrorist group arrested in Merauke were migrants. But they were influenced by radical ideas after settling down.
"Once again, they have been living in Merauke for a long time, getting this kind of radical understanding when they were in Merauke," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Thursday, June 3.
In fact, from the results of the investigation by the Densus 88 Anti-terror investigators, these terrorist suspects also had time to build or grow their group.
Most likely, this group has recruited people who live around Merauke to join the group.
"They built these groups when they were in Marauke, the process was like that," said Rusdi.
On the other hand, the arrests of these suspected terrorists are based on the results of developments from Makassar which lead to other cities. In fact, before going to Merauke, Densus 88 Anti-terror arrested a suspected terrorist group in East Kalimantan.
"In East Kalimantan, there was arrested one group from JAD, then from East Kalimantan moved to Papua, Merauke," said Rusdi.
Previously, Densus 88 Anti-terror continued to reveal and arrest a number of suspected terrorist network cells in Merauke, Papua, which continued to increase to 13 people.
The Merauke Police Chief, AKBP Untung Sangaji, admitted that the number of terrorists arrested at this time was 13 people, and the number may still increase.
In addition to arresting 13 terrorists, Densus 88 also secured various evidences.
"For the time being, that's all I can say because the investigation is still ongoing," said Untung.
Of the 13 terrorists who were arrested, only 11 people whose identities were revealed, namely AK, SB, ZR, UAT, DS, SD, SR, YK and SW as well as husband and wife AP and IK.
