Xiaomi Plans to Develop a Chipset Every Year, Similar to Google Tensor

JAKARTA - Xiaomi says it wants to develop an internal chipset every year, similar to Google Tensor. This plan was revealed at the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC).

To CNBC, Xiaomi said that they may release the latest version of the XRing chip. Through the development of this chipset, Xiaomi wants to strengthen their device ecosystem through deeper hardware integration.

The XRing 01 chipset was previously introduced on the Xiaomi 15S Pro model and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra tablet. This 3nm-manufactured component was developed by TSMC, a semiconductor company from Taiwan.

The upcoming chipset is predicted to bring improvements to the processor's performance and efficiency. For now, Xiaomi is still keeping details about its latest chip architecture a secret.

Interestingly, the implementation of this chipset will apply globally. The reason is that the Xiaomi 15S Pro was not launched outside China and Samsung's flagship phones, including the newly released Xiaomi 17 Series, still rely on Snapdragon.

The development of this chip can overcome the problem of memory management on Android devices. This step is expected to provide better RAM efficiency, as Google does on the Pixel phone.

In addition to hardware, the Xiao AI smart assistant is also scheduled to expand globally. This expansion will be supported by the integration of Google's Gemini Artificial Intelligence (AI) model to strengthen its functions.
