Anticipating Traffic Surge, Telkomsel Prepares 45 Mobile BTS and Services at 494 POI

JAKARTA - Telkomsel projects that the national peak payload will reach around 70.85 petabytes (PB) during the Ramadan and Idulfitri (RAFI) period in 2026, an increase of 11 compared to normal days.

The surge in data traffic is in line with the increasing digital activity of customers in various application categories such as video streaming, communication, games, online shopping, and social media.

Regionally, Telkomsel predicts that the highest increase in the number of customers will occur in several regions, including Central Java and DI Yogyakarta, West Java, and East Java.

To ensure the smooth running of the internet during RAFI 2026, Telkomsel optimizes the network at 494 Points of Interest (POI) in special/crowded areas, transportation, homecoming routes, residential, and places of worship.

The company also implements an AI-based Autonomous Network for end-to-end monitoring 24/7 (early detection, diagnosis, to automatic repair), and 15 Network Alert Posts to maintain service quality.

Telkomsel also deployed 45 units of COMBAT (Compact Mobile BTS) at locations with high density potential, to ensure that the capacity and signal quality remain excellent.

Drive tests will also be carried out along approximately 18,406 kilometers, including approximately 4,167 kilometers of toll roads, to ensure that the coverage and quality of voice and data services remain safe and adequate.

Ensuring easy access to assistance and services, Telkomsel also operates 43 Telkomsel Siaga Posts consisting of 15 Flagship Posts and 28 Regular Posts during the period from February 19 to March 31, 2026.

Through the post, customers can activate and recharge various Telkomsel products, migrate SIM cards to eSIM, get MyTelkomsel service assistance, and exchange Telkomsel POIN.
