Prabowo Orders Anticipation of Fuel and LPG Shortages Ahead of Eid

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the relevant ministerial ranks to anticipate a shortage of fuel and LPG stocks in the community ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026.

The statement was made by the President while leading a limited meeting with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Coordinating Minister for Food and Agriculture Zulkifli Hasan at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 4.

"We must monitor all developments in the preparation for Eid, especially regarding energy, fuel must not be scarce, then LPG, then food as well," said Bahlil, after the meeting.

Bahlil explained that the topic of the meeting with President Prabowo Subianto was to discuss the readiness of the energy and food sectors ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

Bahlil, together with Coordinating Minister for Food and Agriculture Zulkifli Hasan, has directly reported to the President that the energy and food prices are still within the affordable category.

"From the energy and food sectors to prices, they are still affordable," he said.

Bahlil explained that the meeting was a final matching or crosscheck to ensure that all preparations were running optimally.

Meanwhile, Zulkifli Hasan said that food stocks were available at affordable prices and should not increase.

Responding to concerns about the impact of the Iran conflict on food imports and the rupiah exchange rate, Bahlil and Zulkifli ensured that conditions remained safe because the national rice and energy reserves were sufficient.

Zulkifli said that the current rice stock reached around 4 million tons and was considered more than enough to meet people's needs ahead of Eid.

"The stock is 4 million, more than enough," he said.

The government will continue to carry out intensive monitoring to ensure that the stability of supply and prices are maintained until the Eid al-Fitr celebration.
