Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) emphasized that strengthening the IKN defense system is a priority.

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago emphasized that strengthening the defense and security system in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) was a priority to ensure the stability of the new center of government.

According to him, physical development must go hand in hand with strengthening the defense system, security, as well as digital infrastructure and cyber security.

"This Nusantara Capital City is a place that will be the pride of us all, with a fairly large area, then here it will be a good place of government supported by a developed defense and security system for the benefit of this nation," said Djamari as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 4.

The affirmation was conveyed by Djamari when reviewing the progress of the IKN construction in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, Tuesday (3/3). During the visit, he reviewed the State Palace, the Minister's Complex, and the office building of the coordinating ministries to ensure the readiness of the infrastructure and its supporting systems.

He assessed that the government facilities that have been built meet the standards to support the gradual placement of apparatus, with the support of adequate basic facilities.

"The building has met the standards of a decent life, hopefully in the near future, perhaps from the Ministry which has ready personnel, maybe some can come and be present here, because all the facilities are already there, from housing, hospitals, schools, even markets and airports are also here," he said.

Djamari emphasized cross-ministerial and inter-agency coordination as the key to building an integrated security system, including territorial protection, social stability, and security of national strategic infrastructure.

He also said that the existence of IKN must have a positive impact on East Kalimantan, while maintaining the stability of the region as part of national interests.

The government, he said, will ensure that the development of defense and security systems at IKN is integrated so that the new government center can operate safely, effectively, and sustainably.

For this reason, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs hopes that the Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono will always be healthy so that he can complete his duties at the IKN and the presence of the IKN can also be beneficial for the East Kalimantan Provincial Government.
