Shopee Trains 2,500 Housewives and Gen Z to Be More Digital Business Savvy

JAKARTA - Shopee Indonesia through the 'Emak-Emak Matic' and 'Gen Matic' programs, an initiative of the Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy, has managed to equip more than 2,500 housewives and young generations to improve digital skills.

Spread across 8 Indonesian cities including Malang, Jakarta, Bogor, Solo, Balikpapan, Kediri, Bali, and Tangerang, Shopee provides digital training in optimizing opportunities as sellers, merchants, and affiliates in their ecosystem.

After the training, participants recorded an average increase in sales on Shopee of up to 3x, an increase in ShopeeFood Merchant orders of up to 1.8x, and an increase in affiliate commissions of up to 8x.

The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, appreciates Shopee, because according to him, this program encourages people to use digital platforms as a new source of income for families while opening up business opportunities and employment.

"The Ministry of Creative Economy expresses its appreciation and thanks for the good collaboration with Shopee, especially in implementing the Gen Matic and Emak-Emak Matic Programs. Indeed, currently there are only about 3,000 participants in 8 cities, but we hope that this can also be improved and multiplied again," said Riefky when met at Shopee's office, Wednesday, March 4.

As a commitment to encouraging national digital economic growth, Shopee also provides continued support for the best Matic Moms and Gen Matic.

"To support participants to be more productive, we will provide a series of additional support in the form of intensive guidance, additional exposure, ad balance, and various Ad Balance and voucher support worth tens of millions of rupiah," said Deputy Director of Government Relations Shopee Indonesia, Balques Manisang.

Shopee also continues to support Indonesian MSMEs in their growth journey, from the New MSMEs Success Program with free administrative fees and store vouchers up to IDR 2 million, free access to Shopee MSMEs Campus Online Classes every Monday-Friday, to the Shopee Export Program which has brought more than 90 million local products to international markets.
