Government Prepares Procedure to Evacuate 15 Indonesian Citizens from Tehran

Jakarta - The conflict between Iran and Israel and the United States is getting hotter, making Indonesian citizens (WNI) living in Tehran will soon be evacuated to get out of the conflict location.

The government, in this case the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded quickly to the current conditions. This was conveyed by Foreign Minister Sugiono at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 3.

Sugiono said that he had instructed the Indonesian Ambassador in Teheran about the evacuation plan. As a first step, the Indonesian Embassy in Teheran has confirmed that at least 15 Indonesian citizens are ready to be evacuated. However, the evacuation process is carried out through Baku City in Azerbaijan.

Foreign Minister Sugiono explained that not all Indonesian citizens in conflict-affected areas chose to leave Iran. The government respects the decisions of each citizen. However, for those who feel the need to return to their homeland, the country ensures that the process is facilitated.

Evacuation will be carried out gradually, taking into account the security situation on the ground. The government continues to monitor the latest developments, given the dynamic and potentially changing conditions in the region at any time.
