Appoint 521 Functional Officials, Pramono Emphasizes Meritocracy and the Role of Satpol PP to Maintain Jakarta Order 

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung appointed 521 functional officials in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government environment. This inauguration was dominated by apparatus from the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP).

In his remarks, Pramono emphasized that functional positions were not merely filling positions, but were part of strengthening bureaucratic reform and transforming Jakarta into a global city.

"Functional positions are professional trusts that require integrity, competence, and responsibility. Your role is an important part of strengthening the performance of regional devices and supporting the transformation of Jakarta as a global city and the center of the national economy," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, March 4.

He emphasized that this inauguration was not an administrative formality. According to him, the placement of officials is based on the merit system.

"I and Bang Doel (Deputy Governor of Rano Karno) are committed to strengthening the meritocracy system as the foundation of bureaucratic reform in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. The placement of positions must be based on competence and performance achievements so that the bureaucracy we build is truly professional, ethical, and trusted by the community," he said.

Of the total 521 officials who were inaugurated, there were 15 types of functional positions spread across 11 regional units. A total of 473 of them came from Satpol PP.

To the Satpol PP ranks, Pramono asked that the enforcement of regional regulations be carried out firmly but still humanistically and without discrimination. He also touched on the role of teachers who were inaugurated to maintain the professionalism of the learning process and make schools a safe space for students.

In addition, Pramono conveyed five messages to the newly appointed officials. Starting from readiness and adaptive attitude towards city dynamics, building an innovative and result-oriented work pattern, to maintaining team synergy.

"Second, build an innovative and results-oriented work pattern by presenting innovations and improvements that have a real impact on the quality of public services. Third, maintain the spirit of synergy and team solidarity through open communication, a conducive working atmosphere, and working in unity to achieve a common vision," he explained.

He also emphasized the importance of professionalism, integrity, and transparent and accountable work so that every policy can be held accountable to the public.

At the end of his speech, Pramono asked all functional officials to play an active role in maintaining the stability of Jakarta in the midst of global dynamics, so that the activities and welfare of the people are not disrupted.
