One by One Unlicensed Padel Courts Sealed by the DKI Provincial Government, Pramono: We Take Action!

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has begun sealing a number of padel fields that do not have complete permits, such as building permits (PBG) and certificates of fitness for use (SLF). This order was confirmed directly by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung.

Pramono ensures that all padel field managers in Jakarta must comply with building permit regulations. There are no exceptions, including for sports facilities that operate in commercial and residential areas.

"For padel in Jakarta, everything must be licensed, have a PBG. For all padel who violate it does not have a PBG, then we will take firm action," said Pramono.

This affirmation follows the proliferation of padel courts in recent times. A number of locations have even been sealed by city government officials because they are considered to violate zoning regulations and have not obtained the required licensing documents.

Not only about building permits, the DKI Provincial Government also limits the operating hours of the padel field which is located in the residential area. This restriction responds to residents' complaints regarding noise at night.

Pramono said that although they had a PBG, the managers of the padel courts in residential areas were not allowed to operate past 20.00 WIB.

"As for the padel in the housing, even though it already has a PBG, I also heard that there are still those who want to negotiate above 8 (o'clock), we don't give it. Maximum 8 o'clock," he said.

With this policy, Pramono emphasized that the development of sports facilities must still be in line with licensing rules and the convenience of the surrounding environment.

Previously, in recent days, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has begun sealing the padel courts that do not have complete permits, such as Star Padel in Pulomas, East Jakarta which does not have an SLF, as well as the MMT Padel court in Kembangan, West Jakarta and Fourthwall Padel in Cilandak, South Jakarta which has not yet bagged a PBG.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government noted that as of the end of February 2025, of the 397 padel courts currently operating in Jakarta, as many as 185 buildings or 45 percent of them did not have PBG. Hundreds of padel courts that do not have PBG issued by the DKI Jakarta Investment and One-Stop Service Agency (DPMPTSP) have also not obtained a certificate of fitness for function (SLF).
