Minister of Culture Fadli Zon invites JMSI to develop cultural narratives, conservation of regional scripts is asked to have a real impact
JAKARTA - The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, opened the opportunity for cooperation with the Indonesian Cyber Media Network (JMSI) to strengthen the dissemination of cultural narratives as well as the Conservation of Regional Letters. The invitation was conveyed when receiving an audience with the Central Management of JMSI in the Mataram Room, Ministry of Culture, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/3).
JMSI Chairman Teguh Santosa stated that JMSI - as a young constituent in the Press Council - wants to take a more active role in cultural issues, especially the conservation of regional characters.
Fadli emphasized that cultural development could not be concentrated on the government alone. He quoted Article 32 Paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution and emphasized that media work determines whether cultural policies "live" in the public or stop as documents. "The task of promoting national culture must be our common task ... very closely related to what our media colleagues do," he said.
According to Fadli, what is urged is not only physical revitalization, but a consistent narrative so that it becomes a campaign that reaches the Indonesian public as well as the international audience. He said the Ministry of Culture is speeding up the establishment and preservation of cultural heritage and Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTB). Of the WBTB that has been established, about 10-20% are culinary. The government also proposes tempe as a WBTB to UNESCO - a step, he said, which must be accompanied by a strong public communication strategy.
"What we need is to disseminate narratives and information, so it needs to collaborate with the media," said Fadli.
He also conveyed that the ministry was collecting folk stories to be digitized. The meeting was attended by, among others, the Expert Staff of the Minister for Economic and Cultural Industry Anindita Kusuma Listya, the Special Staff for Media and Public Communication Muhammad Asrian Mirza, the Head of the Public Information and Public Information Bureau Ibnu Hamad, the Director of Digital Culture Development Andi Syamsu Rijal, and the Head of the Cultural Media Center Abu Chanifah. Meanwhile, from JMSI, in addition to the General Chairman Teguh Santosa, accompanied by Chairman of the Day Ari Rahman, the JMSI Central Board, including Iqbal Irsyad, Mashudi, I Wayan Sudane and Yophiandi Kurniawan.
