Justin Timberlake Asks Court Not to Release DUI Video
JAKARTA - Singer and actor Justin Timberlake has petitioned the Suffolk County Court not to release a DUI or driving under influence video that took place in June 2024.
The 45-year-old actor was arrested for passing a stop sign and not driving according to the road. Timberlake was arrested while not drunk but he admitted his actions.
At the time, Jessica Biel's husband explained that he only drank one martini at his friend's house.
Monday, March 2, Justin Timberlake through his lawyer was said to have filed a petition for the arrest video not to be released to the public. Lawyers consider this could damage his privacy.
"The dissemination of the recording to the public can cause severe and irreparable personal and professional harm," Justin Timberlake's lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., said, quoted by People.
"This makes Timberlake the subject of public ridicule and harassment," he said again.
The lawyer also said that with the revelation of the video, privacy in the car and other personal information will circulate even though it is not related to the existing case.
The petition was granted after the Sag Harbor Police Department received a request to release the video under the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL).
Then, the lawyer made a claim that the release of the video would show intimate sensitive things related to Timberlake's family including family, medical, and other information that should be kept from the public.
However, if the video is to be released, they hope that Justin Timberlake can review the video first.
Justin Timberlake was found guilty of a DUI and had to pay a fine and complete a 25-hour community service program. His license was also suspended for 90 days.
