Kemenhaj: Since February 28, 6,047 Umrah Pilgrims have returned to Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has confirmed that as many as 6,047 members of the umrah congregation have returned home safely, following the heated security situation in the Middle East region.

"From February 28 to March 1, 2026, a total of 6,047 pilgrims have returned home safely. The government continues to monitor this process so that all pilgrims can return gradually and orderly," said Kemenag spokesman Ichsan Marsha in Jakarta, Monday.

Ichsa said the government continued to monitor the security situation in the Middle East and focused on the safety, security, and protection of umrah pilgrims.

The government ensures that all handling processes are carried out in a measured, coordinated, and prioritize safety.

Ichsan revealed that on Saturday, February 28, 2026, there were 4,200 members of the umrah congregation who returned home using 12 flights. Meanwhile, on Sunday, March 1, 2026, there were 2,047 people who returned home using five flights.

The prospective umrah pilgrims who are planned to depart until before the Hajj season on April 18, 2026, number 43,363 people from 439 Umrah Travel Organizers (PPIU).

Based on reports through the Special Umrah and Hajj Management Computerization System (Siskopatuh) on Sunday (1/3), it was recorded that around 58,873 Indonesian umrah participants were still in Saudi Arabia.

"We ensure that every PPIU fulfills its obligations in full, from departure, service during their stay in Saudi Arabia, to the return of pilgrims. This responsibility must not be ignored," said Ichsan.

The government also asked that communication between PPIU and pilgrims continue to be maintained well.

"We invite pilgrims and PPIU to understand each other. The main thing is to ensure that all pilgrims remain safe, served, and have certainty," he said.

Regarding the aspect of protection, the government emphasized that the state was present. The congregation who experienced protection problems, legal issues, or emergency conditions in Saudi Arabia and the transit country was asked to immediately contact the local Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General.

"We are coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure that every issue of the congregation is handled quickly and properly. We ask all pilgrims to remain calm and follow official instructions," said Ichsan.

In order to prioritize the aspects of safety and protection of pilgrims, the Ministry of Religion appeals to pilgrims who are scheduled to depart for Umrah in the near future to postpone their departure until conditions in the Middle East are conducive again.
