JAKARTA - Police are hunting for a man suspected of committing fraud by claiming to be the head of the Narcotics Police of the Metro Jaya Police and taking away a motorcycle belonging to a base taxi driver in the Kramat Jati area, East Jakarta.

"We are still searching for the perpetrators," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kramat Jati Police, AKP Fadoli, Monday.

Fadoli admitted that his party had collected information from a number of witnesses to uncover the whereabouts of the man. In fact, two witnesses have been examined to investigate the case.

"The witnesses who have been examined are two people, gas station security," he said.

The information from the gas station security officer is expected to help the investigation, including identifying the characteristics of the perpetrators and the chronology of events at the location.

Currently, investigators are still conducting further investigations, including collecting additional evidence and surveillance camera (CCTV) footage around the scene of the incident.

Previously, a man claiming to be a police member from the Polda Metro Jaya allegedly carried out his hypnotic action and took a motorcycle taxi after leaving the 34.135.06 Makasar Fuel Filling Station (SPBU), East Jakarta.

"Yes, it's true that the incident happened at the gas station here. The perpetrator came to the gas station, claiming to be from the Narcotics Police of the Metro Jaya Police to take the victim's motorcycle," said the security officer (security) of the 34.135.06 Makasar Gas Station Agus Sunarya (50) in East Jakarta, Monday.

The alleged crime occurred on Friday (27 February 2026) evening at around 21.30 WIB. At that time, a man came with the victim riding a motorcycle.

He said there was only one perpetrator. Upon arrival at the gas station, the perpetrator rode with the victim, who was known to be a motorcycle taxi driver.

The victim only returned to the gas station the next day, Saturday (28/2), to ask if the security personnel knew the perpetrator or not.

At that time, the victim admitted that he had been hypnotized and his motorcycle was stolen.

According to the victim's statement to Agus, the perpetrator initially hired him as a motorcycle taxi from the front of the Hajj Dormitory Terminal. In addition, the alleged perpetrator also tempted the victim with a payment of Rp. 300 thousand before finally taking away the victim's motorcycle.

"The alleged perpetrator asked to be taken to the Makasar Police and claimed that the Narcotics Police Chief of the Metro Jaya Police was arresting drug perpetrators. When the perpetrator was promised, the perpetrator would pay the victim Rp. 300 thousand for the cost of the motorcycle," explained Fadoli.

The alleged hypnotic crime went viral on the Instagram social media @info_pinang_ranti. Seen in the surveillance camera (CCTV) footage, the alleged perpetrator was wearing all black clothes and glasses.

In the account's statement, the stolen motorcycle was a 2019 Honda Beat with the police number B 5449 TBS.

After realizing it, the victim walked from Jalan Langgar, Kramat Jati, to the Makasar Police to report the incident.

A day after the incident, members of the Kramat Jati Police visited the gas station to ask for information and see CCTV footage to deepen the chronology of the incident.

"Saturday (28/2), members of the Kramat Jati Police came here, asked for information, asked for a complete chronology, and also saw the CCTV," said Agus.
