Government Targets Huntara for Victims of Moving Land in Tegal to be Completed H-5 Lebaran

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is trying to accelerate handling the impact of landslides in Tegal Regency, Central Java Province, by providing temporary housing (huntara) for affected residents.

The government targets that the construction of the huntara will be completed by H-5 Lebaran 2026 at the latest so that it can be immediately occupied before the homecoming and Eid al-Fitr holidays.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said the acceleration of construction was carried out as a form of the government's commitment to provide decent and safe housing for disaster-affected people.

"So, residents can immediately occupy safer housing before the homecoming and Eid al-Fitr 2026 holidays," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Monday, March 2.

The prepared Huntara has a capacity of around 456 families (KK). The housing consists of 38 blocks, each containing 12 units.

Each unit is designed to meet decent housing standards, with the provision of basic utilities and facilities to support community life.

The facilities that have been prepared include electricity connections from PLN, provision of clean water, mosques as places of worship and social activities, community centers, health posts to mini soccer fields as interaction spaces.

The PU Ministry also continues to coordinate with the local government and the Energy and Mineral Resources Agency (ESDM) of Central Java Province to ensure that the construction of the huntara is carried out in a safe location from a geological point of view.

This is done because the affected area is a mobile land area, so a technical disaster study is needed before determining the location of the huntara.

Apart from the construction of the huntara, the local government (Pemda) together with technical institutions is still searching for alternative land that is more stable for the construction of additional huntara and plans for permanent relocation in the future.

The PU Ministry emphasized that post-disaster handling does not only focus on physical development, but also on the long-term safety of the community.

Therefore, each residential location will undergo a technical disaster study to minimize future risks.

Through synergy between the central government, local governments and technical institutions, the provision of huntara is expected to be a quick solution for affected residents as well as an initial step towards a safer and sustainable area arrangement.
