JAKARTA - The repair of the Palembang-Kayu Agung toll road, which is part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), is being rushed. The repair is targeted to be completed on H-10 Idulfitri 2026 and can be used by travelers safely.

Citing information shared by PT Waskita Karya (Persero) as the toll road manager on its official Instagram account @waskita.sriwijaya.tol, Monday, March 2, the repair of the slab on pile area will be carried out at KM 345+150 to KM 349+850 of the Palembang-Kayu Agung Toll Road and continues to show significant progress until February 2026.

"The progress of the improvement has reached 93.5 percent and is currently entering the paving stage," wrote the management of Waskita Sriwijaya Toll.

Not only slab on pile work along 2.5 kilometers, the company will also carry out raising with smooth elevation.

Currently, until March 10, traffic contraflow is still being arranged because there is still work.

"Waskita Sriwijaya Toll (WST) continues to optimize the acceleration of work so that it can be completed before H-10 Eid al-Fitr 2026 to ensure the comfort and safety of road users," he added.

Meanwhile, Waskita Sriwijaya Toll predicts that vehicles passing on H-10 to H+10 have an average daily of 14,994 vehicles.

The peak of the homecoming flow is estimated to be passed by 20,900 vehicles on March 18, 2026 or H-3 and the peak of the return flow on March 24, 2026 by 21,000 vehicles.

Waskita will also add toll entrances, which are currently two points, to three points. During the 2026 Lebaran homecoming period, a 10 percent discount on tariffs will also be given on March 14, 15-16 March and 25-26 March by 30 percent and 10 percent on March 27.

Previously, Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ruslan M. Daud asked the government and the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) to ensure the readiness of the Trans Sumatra Toll infrastructure before the 2026 Lebaran homecoming flow began. Among them, repairing road damage to the readiness of rest areas which will greatly help the smooth running of Sumatran travelers.

"The homecoming flow will occur in the next few weeks. We ask the government to immediately ensure that the Sumatra Toll Road is really ready. The quality of the road surface must be ensured to be smooth, safe and suitable to cross. Don't let there be improvements that are only carried out when the homecoming flow is already running," said Ruslan to reporters, Monday, March 2.

Ruslan revealed that he received complaints from the public regarding the damage to the Sumatra toll road. One of them is the hole point on the Kayu Agung-Palembang toll road which is considered dangerous for the safety of travelers.

"We hope that the hole or uneven road conditions on the toll road will be repaired immediately. We don't want a toll road that should be a solution to smooth mobility, but instead become a vulnerable point for accidents due to poor asphalt quality," he said.

In addition to the physical condition of the road, the legislator from Aceh also highlighted the importance of optimizing supporting facilities. He asked the toll road manager to conduct a thorough inspection of street lighting, markings to drainage systems to anticipate extreme weather.

He emphasized that the minimal lighting along the Sumatra route was a critical note because it greatly affected the safety of drivers during night travel.

"We ask that lighting facilities along the toll road be ensured to function optimally. Good lighting has a great influence on driver safety, especially to minimize the risk of accidents due to fatigue and limited visibility," he said.
