Malang Police Uncover Circulation of Fake Money in Rp100 Thousand Notes
MALANG - The Malang City Police (Polresta) dismantled an alleged case of circulating counterfeit money worth Rp94 million in the form of Rp100 thousand notes.
"For the evidence of counterfeit money that was successfully secured, in detail it was approximately Rp94 million or almost Rp100 million in the form of Rp100 thousand notes," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Malang City Police, AKP Rahmad Aji Prabowo, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 2.
The police managed to uncover this alleged circulation of counterfeit money, on Sunday (1/3) evening. The police have arrested three suspects, namely F, BS, and U.
Currently, the local police are still continuing to deepen the modus operandi and the role of each suspect.
In this case, the personnel of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Malang City Police also searched for one suspect whose status was still on the person search list (DPO).
"There is one more person who we have set as a search list. It seems that it has been circulated by the suspect," he said.
The police have not revealed the identity of the DPO, the chronology of the arrest of the three suspects, nor how much counterfeit money has been circulated.
The ranks of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Malang Police are still continuing to deepen to uncover the facts of this alleged case of circulation of counterfeit money that has been dismantled.
"If (DPO) succeeds in arresting us, we are optimistic that we can map the syndicate as well as the production and distribution network," he said.
The local police appealed to the entire community to be aware and cautious of the circulation of counterfeit money, given that the moment is also approaching the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
"Be careful when exchanging or receiving money, don't be fooled by the new shape, and make sure it is really checked for authenticity," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Police, Kombes Pol Putu Kholis Aryana, conveyed that the discovery of the circulation of counterfeit money was an effort by the local police to ensure the safety of the community in carrying out transactions during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1147 Hijriah.
"With this disclosure, it will support the creation of a conducive situation in Malang City during the holy month of Ramadan," said Putu.
