Controversy over Indonesian Rice Imports from the United States, Zulhas: It's Special Rice

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Food (Menko Pangan) Zulkifli Hasan answered the controversy over rice imports from the United States.

As widely reported, Indonesia has agreed to import 1,000 tons of rice from the United States, as part of a reciprocal trade agreement.

This has become a controversy because it is known that President Prabowo Subianto has announced rice self-sufficiency.

To reporters at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, March 2, Zulkifli Hasan explained that the rice imported from the United States is a special rice that is not effective if cultivated in Indonesia.
