Challenge Geely EX2, Chery QQ3 EV Launches March 10 and Offers 420 Km Travel Distance

JAKARTA - Chery is preparing to introduce its latest electric hatchback, the Chery QQ3 EV, to the Chinese market on March 10. This four-door model with a maximum range of 420 km will challenge Geely EX2 (Xingyuan) dominance, which is the best-selling car in China throughout 2025.

The name QQ itself is not new for Chinese consumers, this label has become one of the important milestones for the manufacturer from Wuhu since the early 2000s. The first QQ model was launched in 2003 as an unlicensed clone of the Daewoo Matiz.

In a decade, more than one million QQ units were produced, then developed into a separate line with three main models: QQ3, QQ6, and QQme. Entering the electrification era, Chery tried to revive the QQ name since 2021 through a number of urban electric cars such as QQ Ice Cream and QQ Domi.

In 2026, the manufacturer took a more serious step by reviving the iconic QQ3 name in a four-door electric hatchback format specifically designed for urban mobility.

Market response to the QQ3 EV is quite high. Since the initial order was opened on February 7, the model has recorded 27,319 orders in just three hours. Although the official price has not been announced, consumers can already place an order by paying 99 yuan and will later be converted into a discount of 999 yuan after the car is officially marketed.

Launching Carnewschina, Monday, March 2, Chery confirmed that the QQ3 EV will go on sale on March 10 in China. This model is explicitly targeting Geely EX2, which according to China EV DataTracker recorded sales of 465,775 units in the domestic market last year.

Outside China, the model is marketed as the Geely EX2 and is even assembled in Malaysia under the name Proton e.MAS 5. The compact electric hatchback segment in China is currently very competitive.

It is predicted that the QQ3 EV will be priced in the range of 70,000-110,000 yuan, a figure that makes it potentially an attractive option in its class. In terms of design, the QQ3 EV carries a new design language with large oval headlights and taillights, semi-hidden door handles, and a slightly sloping D-pillar.

Its dimensions are 4,195 mm long, 1,811 mm wide, and 1,569 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. In terms of size, this model is 60 mm longer, 6 mm wider, and 1 mm lower than the Geely EX2.

The entertainment system relies on the Snapdragon 8155 chip and has been supported by an artificial intelligence (AI) based voice assistant. For performance, the basic variant of the QQ3 EV carries a 58 kW (78 hp) electric motor on the rear axle.

Meanwhile, the higher version offers a peak power of 90 kW (121 hp). There are two options for LFP batteries with a capacity of 29.5 kWh and 41.3 kWh, with a range based on the CLTC standard ranging from 310 to 420 km.
