Beware of Traffic Jams, There is a Diversion of the Padang-Sicincin Toll Road due to the Installation of the Erection Girder
JAKARTA - Toll road users who often cross the Padang-Sicincin toll road are asked to prepare.
This is because PT Hutama Karya (Persero) will implement traffic engineering at KM 18+998 to accommodate the erection of the bridge (erection girder) in the Lubuk Alung Interchange project on the toll road.
It is predicted that these activities will change the travel patterns of people to and from the Padang Toll Gate and Kapalo Hilalang, especially during the productive hours from 09.00 to 15.00 WIB.
The technical work of installing the girder is a crucial phase in the construction of the Lubuk Alung Interchange.
Considering the risk of heavy equipment and material loads passing over the roadbed, the company decided to divert traffic to ensure the safety of road users.
Vice President (VP) of Corporate Communications of Hutama Karya Rizki Dana emphasized that cross-sectoral coordination had been carried out to minimize chaos in the field.
"This traffic engineering is a mitigation step to ensure the safety of road users during the work. We have coordinated with the Traffic Police of West Sumatra, the Traffic Police of Padang Pariaman Police, BPJN to the Transportation Office," said Rizki in an official statement, quoted Monday, March 2.
During the work period on March 2-3, there are two main schemes that drivers must pay attention to:
- From Kapalo Hilalang Toll Gate (GT) to Padang: Drivers will be directed through a detour (temporary lane) that has been prepared on the side of the existing road at KM 18+998.
- From GT Padang to Kapalo Hilalang: Traffic flow will be completely diverted out to National Road.
Hutama Karya claims that the detour route has been equipped with adequate signs, markings and lighting. Even so, it is predicted that congestion at the toll exit point to the national road will still occur.
"We apologize for this inconvenience. We urge road users to reduce speed around the work site, maintain a safe distance and comply with the instructions of officers," he explained.
To note, the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Section Padang-Sicincin has a length of 36 kilometers which has been operating since May 28, 2025 and has become the main link in West Sumatra.
The presence of the interchange, including the Lubuk Alung Interchange, is expected to further strengthen the accessibility of the area and reduce the travel time from around 1.5 hours via the national road to around 30 minutes via the toll road.
