Prabowo to Lead Try Sutrisno's Funeral

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to lead the funeral ceremony for the 6th Deputy of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno, at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery Park, South Jakarta.

This was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi after attending the funeral prayer at the Sunda Kelapa Mosque, Jakarta, Monday. He said the deceased would be buried in a state funeral and led directly by the President.

"God willing (lead the funeral ceremony), please pray," said Prasetyo.

The government has also coordinated with the RSPAD to ensure the best handling since the deceased was treated until he was declared dead.

Prasetyo conveyed that Try Sutrisno left an important example for the Indonesian nation, especially in maintaining constitutional values and national unity.

During his life, the late often advised that the next generation should maintain the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila, as well as continue to unite in filling independence in the midst of challenges that are not easy.

"He has set an example for the entire Indonesian nation on how to love our country," he said.

The Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who is also the Spokesperson for the President of the Republic of Indonesia, said Try Sutrisno was one of the best sons of the nation who devoted his entire life to the nation, state, and people of Indonesia.

Try Sutrisno, who served as the 6th Vice President during the reign of President Ke-2 Soeharto, died while being treated at the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD), Jakarta, Monday morning. The deceased died at the age of 90.

"Regarding the information about the departure of the 6th Vice President, General TNI (Ret.) Try Sutrisno, of course we feel very deep sorrow. He is one of the best sons of the Indonesian nation who has devoted himself, dedicating his whole life to the nation and state," said Mensesneg to reporters in Jakarta, Monday.

Prasetyo then invited all Indonesian people to pray for the late Try Sutrisno.

"Let's pray that he is forgiven all his sins and mistakes, all his deeds are accepted and moreover he is called to meet Allah SWT in the holy month, the month of Ramadan," said Prasetyo.

Finally, Prasetyo also reminded the examples that have been set by the late Try Sutrisno to be continued by the younger generation who are the next generation of the nation.

"Let us, the younger generation, the next generation, emulate what he has exemplified for us in giving the best dharma service to the nation, state, and Indonesian society," said the Minister of Law and Human Rights.

Almarhum Try Soetrisno, in the last years before his death, was still actively devoting himself to participating in national activities, including serving as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) for the 2022-2027 term.

The 6th Vice President Try Sutrisno is also active in attending state events, such as the Commemoration Ceremony for the Proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace every August 17, the Annual Session of the MPR, or important events such as the TNI Anniversary ceremony on October 5.
