Jokowi asks ASN to avoid hedonistic attitude in remembering today, March 2, 2023

JAKARTA - Today's memory, three years ago, March 2, 2023, President Jokowi asked the civil servant (ASN) to avoid hedonism. Jokowi considers that hedonism and often showing off will make all Indonesian people angry and disappointed.

Previously, the action of showing off riding a big motorcycle (moge) by the Director General of Taxes, Suryo Utomo, shocked the whole of Indonesia. The show opened the veil that not only the leader was hedonistic, his subordinates also participated.

Government employees often show off and hedonism is not a new thing. This condition is even often shown by ASN itself. Instead of maintaining the attitude as an ASN, they often show off their wealth in public.

The narrative was clearly shown by DJP. Hedonistic actions are not only carried out at the level of subordinates. However, the action was also carried out by the Director General of Taxes, Suryo Utomo. Suryo's photo showing off riding a moge club, Belasting Rijder, went viral everywhere.

Belasting Rijder itself is a motorcycle club formed by DJP employees. The presence of the photo made the people all over the country condemn DJP. The name DJP was damaged. The tax service carried out was considered unsatisfactory. The employees were also seen as corrupt.

The Minister of Finance (Menkeu), Sri Mulyani, also could not remain silent when her subordinates had a hobby of showing off. He considered DJP employees inappropriate to show off because Indonesia was recovering economically after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sri does not care if moge is bought with halal money or official salary. However, he asked his staff to be sensitive to the people's condition. Showing off is considered the same as violating the principles of decency and public speed.

Sri also emphasized to his staff to immediately dissolve the moge club, Belasting Rijder. The moge club is considered to only hurt the hearts of all Indonesian people.

"Asking that the Blasting Rijder DJP club be dissolved. The hobby and lifestyle of riding moge has created a negative perception of society and raised suspicions about the source of wealth of DJP employees," Sri said in his official statement via Instagram @smindrawati, February 26, 2023.

The issue of the DJP employee's show-off action does not subside. The show-off action is still a hot topic. Many people think it's a pity to pay taxes. This condition is because tax money is stolen by tax officials to meet hedonism.

President Jokowi also spoke up on March 2, 2023. He emphasized to all ASN from all ministries, the TNI, and the Polri to avoid hedonism. Jokowi considers DJP to be a bad example.

He asked ASN to immediately fix the pattern of bureaucracy. He assessed that there were many bad bureaucracies. The condition is getting worse when ASN even shows off and hedonism. Jokowi considers it appropriate if the people are angry and disappointed.

"From the comments I read, both in the field and in the ministry, on social media, because of the events in Pajak and at the Customs. I know very well to follow the public's disappointment with our government officials and be careful."
