US-Israel vs Iran war, Oman: Diplomatic doors remain open

JAKARTA - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi stated that the door of diplomacy remained open amid the US and Israeli attacks on Iran and called on the warring parties to return to the negotiating table and warned that the hope for peace should not be abandoned.

"I want to make it very clear - the door of diplomacy remains open. Negotiations in Geneva have made real progress towards an unprecedented agreement between Iran and the United States (US)," al-Busaidi said on the social media X, reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Monday, March 2.

He stressed that the ongoing conflict should not take away the prospect of peace.

"War should not mean that the hope for peace is extinguished. I still believe in the power of diplomacy to resolve this conflict. The sooner the negotiations resume, the better it will be for everyone," he added.

Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran on Saturday morning (28/2) while negotiations between Tehran and Washington were underway. Oman has acted as a mediator in the negotiations.

Israel and the US had also previously carried out attacks on Iran in June 2025, during another round of Iran-US negotiations also mediated by Oman.

On Friday (27/2), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman said that US-Iranian nuclear talks had reached an agreement on "zero stockpiling" of enriched uranium, including reducing existing stocks to the lowest level and converting them into permanent fuel under full IAEA verification.

He said his belief to CBS is "a peace deal is within our reach" if diplomacy is given "the space it needs to achieve it."
