Pramono remembers Try Sutrisno: The figure of the father of the nation who firmly holds the constitution

JAKARTA - The 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno, died this morning. The sad news left sadness for many national figures, including the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung who admitted that he had a personal closeness to the deceased.

Pramono conveyed his sorrow at the departure of the former Vice President. He admitted that he had known Try Sutrisno since the mid-1990s.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. I as a person who has known Pak Try Sutrisno closely for a long time, of course, feels lost," said Pramono when visiting the funeral home, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday, March 2.

Pramono remembered Try Sutrisno as a figure who embraced many people and dedicated his life to the nation until the end of his life.

Pramono said that his introduction to Try Sutrisno had been established since around 1995. According to him, Try's figure is known to be consistent in upholding the values of Pancasila and the constitution.

Pramono revealed that his last meeting with Try Sutrisno occurred about five to six months ago. At that time, the deceased was still actively carrying out his role at the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP).

He assessed that commitment to the constitution was a strong characteristic inherent in Try Sutrisno compared to other figures.

"That is what distinguishes Mr. Try Sutrisno from other figures, indeed he is a constitutional affair that is something deep, inherent in his life," said Pramono.

In previous meetings, Pramono also visited Try Sutrisno's residence. He admitted that the deceased's health condition had indeed declined in recent times. Even so, his spirit was not considered to have receded.

"His condition is indeed in the last few days, he has experienced a decline, but his spirit has never gone down," said Pramono.

The sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno, died at the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta, on Monday morning at around 07.00 WIB.

Try Sutrisno was born in Surabaya, East Java, on November 15, 1935. He started his military career through the Army Technical Academy (Atekad) and then served in various strategic units of the Army.

His military career rose when he was entrusted with a number of important positions, including Commander of Kodam IV/Diponegoro, Commander of Kodam V/Jaya, to serving as the Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD) in the period 1988-1993.

After that, he was appointed as the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces before finally being elected as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia to accompany President Soeharto for the 1993-1998 term.

As Vice President, Try Sutrisno is known to be active in various national agendas and the development of national ideology. After his retirement, he continued to be involved in various social and national activities, including in the development of Pancasila values.

Try Sutrisno's departure adds to the list of national figures who have died. The government and the wider community are expected to pay the last respects for his services while serving the country, both as TNI soldiers and as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.
