When We Were Young Festival Not Held This Year
JAKARTA - The shocking news came for lovers of the emo and pop-punk genres around the world. When We Were Young (WWWY) officially confirmed that the annual event, which is located in Las Vegas, USA, will not be held this year.
Since its debut in 2022, When We Were Young has become a beacon for 2000s music nostalgia. For four years in a row, thousands of fans have packed Las Vegas every October to see major band reunions.
However, through an official statement on social media, the organizers emphasized that this hiatus is not the end of everything, but a strategic step for refreshment.
"After an unforgettable trip to Las Vegas, we decided to take a break in 2026 to give the festival the proper attention and ensure that what comes next feels just as special as the previous one," the organizers wrote, quoting the description of the upload, Monday, March 2.
They added an emotional message for loyal fans, "Thank you for coming with all your heart every year. This is not a goodbye, it's just a pause. See you in 2027."
This decision is considered bold considering the great success achieved in the previous edition.
In 2025, the WWWY stage will witness a historic reunion of Panic! At The Disco, which will bring the album "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" in full for their 20th anniversary.
Not to mention the performances of other bands such as All Time Low, My Chemical Romance, to Simple Plan who always manage to sell out tickets in a matter of hours.
Although WWWY is absent in 2026, fans in Las Vegas are not completely losing entertainment. Instead, the Sick New World festival is confirmed to continue with a massive title.
The absence of When We Were Young in 2026 is predicted to make fans' enthusiasm peak when the festival is held again in October 2027.
This one-year break is expected to provide room for emo and pop-punk music to resurface in the following year.
