Monday's Rupiah Projected to Weaken Due to US-Israeli Attacks on Iran

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate is projected to continue weakening in today's trade, March 2, after last weekend also closed down 0.17 percent to Rp16,787 per US dollar (USD).

In line with this, the rupiah of Bank Indonesia also weakened 0.12 percent daily to Rp16,779 per US dollar.

Currency and Commodities Analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi said the US-Israeli attack on Iran could potentially weaken the rupiah movement.

The attack was carried out after US President Donald Trump was dissatisfied with a meeting between the US delegation and the Iranian delegation regarding nuclear reactors and missiles.

Ibrahim said the rupiah has the potential to reach Rp17,000 per US dollar in the next week. As for today, Ibrahim projects the rupiah to move fluctuat but closed at a weakened range of Rp16,790 - Rp16,820 per US dollar.
