KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Records Sales of More than 236 Thousand Eid Return Tickets

PT KAI Regional Operation (Daop) 8 Surabaya recorded that 236,363 tickets for the 2026 homecoming flow had been sold for the departure period from March 11 to April 1, 2026.

KAI Public Relations Manager Daop 8 Surabaya Mahendro Trang Bawono said the number was equivalent to around 42 percent of the total capacity of 561,528 seats prepared during the 2026 Lebaran Transportation period.

"The enthusiasm of the public to return home using the train is very high. So far, more than 236 thousand tickets have been sold and sales continue to move every day," said Mahendro in Surabaya, Sunday.

Meanwhile, for the pre-Lebaran period of 11-20 March 2026, there are still about 130 thousand seats that can be used by the public.

Mahendro urged customers to immediately plan their trips and make reservations early given the increasing sales trend.

In addition, according to him, the date with the highest sales rate was recorded on March 18, 2026 with 21,628 tickets, followed by March 19, 2026 with 19,674 tickets, and March 17, 2026 with 18,597 tickets.

He added that the data indicates that the peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur in the range of these dates so that customers can consider alternative departure schedules.

On the other hand, he continued, during the 2026 Lebaran Transportation period, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya operated 59 long-distance train trips per day.

The number, said Mahendro, consists of 49 regular trains, five additional trains from Surabaya Gubeng Station, three additional trains from Surabaya Pasarturi Station, and two additional trains from Malang Station.

Mahendro explained that the addition of the trip was a proactive step to accommodate the surge in community mobility optimally.

Furthermore, he added, the government also presented economic stimulus in the form of a 30 percent discount for Commercial Economy Trains in the period 14-29 March 2026.

He revealed that in the Surabaya Daop 8 area, there are still 114,159 tickets with a discount rate from the total quota of 188,288 tickets, while 74,129 tickets or about 39 percent have been sold.

"We invite the public to take advantage of this discount program through official sales channels before the quota is met so that they can return home more economically and comfortably," he said.
