After Rising from Prison, Fariz RM Prepares New Music and Book Projects

JAKARTA - After being declared free from drug abuse, Fariz RM revealed plans for his music career in the future. He admitted that he had prepared a series of new projects to treat the longing of his fans.

One of his upcoming projects is a musical performance. This event will be a moment of 'gratitude' for his freedom as well as a gathering event in Ramadan.

"This press conference is made up, the first thing is thanksgiving," said Fariz RM in Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, Saturday, February 28.

In addition, he also admitted that he had a lot of new song material ready to be released. However, the 67-year-old musician admitted that he still needed time to be able to focus on the creative process.

"There are many plans, of course," said Fariz.

"But now I need time for myself first," he added.

Not only in the music world, Fariz will also be active again in the world of literature. The singer of "Barcelona" is preparing his third book.

"I want to publish the third book again, after the two previous books," he said.

Previously, Fariz RM's lawyer, Deolipa Yumara, said that his client had been officially free since February 15, after serving a sentence of approximately 6 months.

"So I represent Bang Fariz RM, if the question is when he is free, precisely on February 15, 2026 he has left the prison. So he has been free since February 15, 2026," said Deolipa.

He also believes that his client has made many major changes during his detention, one of which is deciding not to use the device anymore.

"Oh yes, since in the training, 6 months to 7 months of training, it has changed. It's really repented. Bang Fariz was a long time ago, it's just that it hasn't been published well. This is Bang Fariz telling himself that he has repented," said Deolipa.

"Why don't you hold your phone? That's one of the forms of repentance. Don't want to be distorted again by the mainstream," he concluded.
