PU Ministry Repairs 1,200 Damaged Roads in Parung-Bogor, 263 Points Left

BOGOR - Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo said that his party was maximizing the repair of national road damage on the Gandaria-Cilodong to Parung section, Bogor Regency, West Java.

Da targets the repair process to be completed in the next one to two months.

"We are in the process of repairing from Parung Market to Kemang Point. Previously there was patching, but it was not perfect. Now we are doing a gradual improvement. Hopefully one to two months will be completed," Dody told reporters, Saturday, February 28.

According to him, the quality of work is the main concern. Several patch points are judged to be uneven and still bumpy, which is risky for motorists, especially motorbikes.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta-West Java National Road Implementation Agency, Rina Kumala Sari, said there were 1,463 potholes along the 25.1 kilometer stretch from Pasar Parung to Gandaria-Cilodong.

1,200 holes have been handled and 263 points are left.

"We target the next five days all the holes are closed," said Rina.

Rina added that his party also cleaned the shoulders of the road and normalized the drainage to prevent repeated damage, especially during the rainy season.

According to Rina, the difference in the structure of the pavement is the main trigger for damage.

Some of the roads are still using flexible pavement (asphalt), while others are rigid (concrete).

"Holes often appear at rigid and asphalt meetings. The long-term solution is to replace the entire asphalt lane with concrete," he said.

Rina said that the budget of Rp. 239 billion would be allocated for the rigidization of the fast lane along 21 kilometers and drainage improvements.

Previously, along the 3 kilometer stretch, it had been strengthened with rigid construction.

"With the strengthening of the structure as a whole and adequate drainage systems, the risk of repeated damage and traffic accidents can be suppressed," he said.

If the additional budget is approved, the project is expected to increase the reliability of national road infrastructure in the strategic corridor of Jakarta-Depok and its surroundings.
